The Jurassic Coast is a world heritage site. With 185 million years within just 95 miles of Dorset and East Devon coastline.
The coast boasts an almost perfect range of Triassic, Jurassic and Cretaceous rock exposures representing almost the entire Mesozoic era. There are also outstanding geomorphological features such as landslides, a barrier beach and lagoon, cliffs and raised fossil beaches. There are also several prolific fossil localities that could be considered to be worthy of World Heritage Site status in their own right.
